Athens to NYC Day 1: First 400.0

Look, we took some pictures!
Athens, Ga in all it's splendor. Why even go to New York?

We pulled off to ride a mile like the locals do...

I convinced Alastair to ride a mile in redneck shoes. Twas glorious. (Note: It was only a mile)

(This motorcycle was a prop. Paramedics were on site. Movie Magic.)

Alastair hated every second of it...except for the new doo

WAHO break

Freedom. God Bless SC.

I'm not a bad-ass, I just play one on TV.

Virginia is for lovers and epic scenery. Mostly epic scenery. (Damn hippies)

Bike Cuddles

400.0 miles on the dot to our first stop. Crazy, huh?

All in all it was a good day. Special thanks to the Jones family for having us, and the entire movie crew that helped us pull off the image of helmetlessness.

Athens to NYC Day 0: Nada

I rode to Athens on 316 today. Whoopdy doo.  I did cross the solid white lines of the HOV lane a few times.  Now that's living dangerously.

9 hours of work and $350 later...

...I got me some new oil and rubber.

No mufflers.  And my bike is on two car jacks covered in t-shirts. Hmmm.

That's a caliper with cardboard in it...hanging from a zip tie

Fucking exhaust pipes. Like a puzzle. A puzzle that scratches chrome.

Props to the right hand man (that's his left hand)

Meri doesn't ride so she can't contribute to the blog.  BUT, if she did, her blog name would be "Lady Parts"

Pure Rock n' Roll

That tread is deeper than "Shine On, You Crazy Diamond, You"

Magic Tricks

So I figured out a way to roll off a stop that makes you feel like a magician. Here's how you do it:

1. Put your bike in neutral and sit with your shifting leg on the ground supporting you and your brake foot resting on your right foot peg.

2. When the light changes, bring your left foot up and shift into first without putting your right foot down

3. After shifting, leave your left foot on the peg

4. Take off fast enough that your don't fall over

If you do it right, you'll feel like you can levitate. Badass.

I also found a sweet iphone app that let's me take sweet pics:

Look, I turned my 2002 V Star into a 1970s 2002 V Star!

Badass NY, NY trip blog posts, here we come
